A Meg Ryan Movie Marathon

As I said on Monday, I'm really craving a Meg Ryan movie marathon.

It's probably because I'm in between that time of year when all I want to do is watch Halloween movies and that time of year when all I want to do is watch Holiday Movies.

Here's what I'm thinking:
"There are two kinds of women: high maintenance and low're the worst kind. You're high maintenance but you think you're low maintenance."

"You're going to have to try and find a way of not expressing every feeling you have, every moment you have them."

"All I'm saying is that somewhere on there is the man you are supposed to marry. And if you don't get him first, somebody else will, and you'll have to spend the rest of your life knowing that somebody else is married to your husband."

"I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I got to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to begin as soon as possible."

"You don't want to be in love. You wan't to be in love in a movie."

"Destiny is something we've invented because we can stand the fact that everything that happens is accidental."

"Well, I'm gonna get out of bed every morning, breath in and out all day long. Then, after awhile I won't have to remind myself to get out of bed every morning and breath in and out, and then after awhile I won't have to think about how I had it great and perfect for a while."

"Well, it was a million tiny things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together."

"And, I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home, only to no home I'd ever known. It was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like...magic"

"When you're attracted to someone, it just means your subconscious is attracted to their subconscious, subconsciously. So what we think of as fate is just two neuroses knowing that they are a perfect match."

"Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life - well, valuable, but small - and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I dont really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void"

"The whole purpose of places like Starbucks if for people with no decision making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don't know what the hell they're doing or who on earth they are can, for only $2.95, get not just a coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall. Decaf. Cappuccino."

"I go online, and my breath catches in my chest until I hear three little words: You've got mail. I hear nothing. Not even a sound on the streets of New York, just the beating of my own heart. I have mail. From you."

"People are always telling you that change is a good thing. But all they're really saying is that something you didn't want to happen has happened."

"Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one! It got on at 42nd and off at 59th, where I assume it was going to Bloomingdales to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake, as almost all hats are."

"Dont you just love New York in the Fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly-sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."

"The odd thing about this form of communication is that you're more likely to talk about nothing than something. But I just want to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings."

p.s. in my research for this post, I discovered there will be a Toy Story 4. Color me excited.

p.p.s. I wish Kathleen Kelly and Joe Fox were real people, in love, in real life.

On Trend: Colorful Doors

You know, I think that colorful doors are just about the most comforting, warm and inviting thing since, well, ever. They might just be the smile on every house.

One day, I plan to own a cute little adorable house with a colorful door: maybe in a pretty sky blue, a bright red or a sunny yellow.

Happy Birthday Dave!

Today, I interrupt my regularly, pre-scheduled posting schedule to wish the guy who's been on my side from the very beginning a very very happy birthday. Happy Birthday, David.

Love ya, Big Bro!

Apartment LOVE: Lauren Knight

Lauren Knight is one of my favorite bloggers. I swear sometimes it reads like a love poem to my favorite city, London, which is where she lives with her husband, Tyler, and daughter, Viola.

[Side note: Viola, is one of the most adorable and well dressed babies. Watch out Prince George, this girls coming for you! You should probably follow her on instagram for those pictures. I digress]

Her and her husband's home is "a small but perfectly arranged flat in Notting Hill, West London is a testament to their love of traveling, the small pleasures and, most of all, each other."

They're big travelers and "this wanderlust definitely influences the way Lauren and Tyler decorate their home: every souvenir tells a story, and the walls and bookshelves are scattered with photos of the couple, living it up, and yes, kissing, in locations all over the globe."

This week is yet another week. As the days go by, I really do think there should be an extra day in the weekend, and they do say that studies show people are more successful in four day weeks rather than five day weeks.

I vote we move to that.

Currently -
Listening: Let's have a Kiki. My trainer played it for me last week, it's so weird.
Eating: m2 cafe
Drinking: Steamed and Frothed Milk
Wanting: to wish my big brother a very happy birthday, he'll be 28 tomorrow!
Needing: a Meg Ryan movie marathon
Thinking: what should I dress up as this weekend: Pumpkin or Ballerina
Enjoying: the Red Sox in the World Series
Wondering: how it's going to be November already? Madness

Focus on the Good

This week was an interesting one. Like last week, it was crazy busy filled with meetings. Unlike last week, it was also filled with yet another sad moment. The world lost another one, and this one happened to be someone I grew up with. While I did not know her well, it's unfathomable how bad things happen to good people, but they do. So today, and all weekend, I'm focusing on the good.

On Trend: The Pouf

I decided I wanted to write a post about all the trends that I was seeing over and over in my Apartment LOVE posts. But, as I started to pull the content, I realized it would a. make a really long post and b. make a really great on going series. Hence: On Trend.

Among these trends: The Pouf. A perfect seat or foot stool and yes, even decorative accessory.

Shoe Talk

I find silly accessories adorable. Like this entire New York inspired line from Kate Spade I blogged about a few weeks back. These Alice & Olivia shoes KILL me.

So naturally, I've fall head over literal heels in love with Charlotte Olympia's shoes especially their Betty and Veronica Line at Nordstrom.

Check out a few of my favorites:

Apartment LOVE: Ruby Press

There must be something about PR and paper goods companies, they've got great offices. We can count my office out and Ruby Press' offices in.

And, they even shared some tips on how to accomplish such a swanky place. I'm currently doing some interior design work at my office and will be using some of these tricks.

"I love color and tend to decorate in the same colors that I love dressing in," says Melissa Davis. "Pinks, corals and reds with neutrals and accents of gold. The office is a big white box, and I love the way color made it feel like Ruby."

I could not agree more. And kind of take the same approach to my life, my decor and my outfits.

First and foremost, I'd like to spend a moment celebrating my grandmother Marilyn who's celebrating quite the birthday today. I won't tell you how old she is but I will tell you, she looks good and has barely aged from this picture below, taken in October of 1990. I can't say the same for myself. So, Happy Birthday Nana. I hope today is filled with all your favorite things: painfully hot tea and sugar-y delicious frosting and that one day, when I'm your age, I hope my life is filled with as much love and happiness as yours is.

I'll be celebrating Nana today, and this week...

+ I'm feeling like I finally have enough time to get back into a routine. The past month has been a fury of traveling and family visitors so I'm very excited to be home for the next 5 weeks in a row.

+ I'm planning on cooking. And, before we get ahead of ourselves, I'm also planning on grocery shopping.

+ I want to go pumpkin picking and make a jack-o-lantern. And roast pumpkin seeds. Nothing says fall like that.

+ There's a a definite chance that my fall scented candles will be on high rotation this week.

+ I'd like to take a trip to T.J. Maxx. Their Maxxinista Blogger promotion is really making me want to take a trip. But, there's a catch: I have to find one in a good neighborhood as they cater to their audiences. Not sure the Fullerton Pkwy location is going to be a hit.

+ I'm already homesick for a good cuddle with Dunkin.
