This one kind of surprised me. I used to love the LOFT. However, in recent years, okay probably since my mother stopped forcing me to give it a shot, I've kind of abandoned it. You see, I find their stores pretty impossible to shop. They're a bit overcrowded and the stuff never looks as good hanging up in the store as they do on...and I'm not a big searching or try-er on-er (is that a word?)
But lately, okay reading Jessica's blog, has got me really loving on it. I'm planning on hitting it up this weekend with my mom.
If you take a look at my SHOP, you'll notice I've been saving a lot of watches.
Like each season, there's always something I'm really wanting. Whether it's a certain new addition to my wardrobe, a new scent or something entirely different, there's always something. This season is a leather watch.
So I'm asking for your help. Which do you think I should get?
I'm leaning towards one of the Kate Spades in either black, beige or a bright color. I know, that really narrows it down. Hah.
I've been a fan of Mackenzie Horan for quite some time now. I love her blog, her shop, those gingham shoes and her adorable puppy, Rory. She's actually the inspiration for my 101 things in 1001 list.
A few months ago, Mackenzie made the big move to the city and I just knew her apartment would be beyond. She had given some sneak peaks via instagram and last week, Glitter Guide made the big reveal. It was so big, it even crashed the site.
Mackenzie, can I move in? I'm happy to cuddle with Rory when you're busy working.
This week marks the official last week of summer and I cannot believe how the time has flown. However, with today and tomorrow's temperature in the high 90s and quite humid, you might not be able to tell.
+ I'm starting my tracking again. I've recently purchased May Designs notebooks and using them to track this. More on that soon though.
+ And, I'm wearing my Fitbit wayyy more than I thought I would and totally loving it.
+ I'm heading home on Friday night to spend a way with my family for Labor Day, the Jewish holiday and my mom's birthday! I'm hoping the week is filled with rest and relaxation, cuddles with Dunk, delicious food, both home cooked and out, mom's easy-apple pie, I'm thinking I may even share that one here, shopping, waterskiing, swimming and tanning, family and friends.
+ So I'm not sure what my blogging is going to be like quite yet. Bare with me as always :)
"...since Fashion week," says Connie Wang, Senior Global Writer for Refinery29.
What's she talking about, you ask? Oh, just 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target.
You all know how I feel about a good Target collaboration, and unlike Neiman's people other than me are going to be jumping for joy over this one...they already are.
"Full of work-appropriate tanks, trousers, dresses and sweaters, it's a professional woman's dream collection...there are some sparkling, sophisticated party frocks for after-hours eents as well. And, oh yah, Awesome Pajamas."
I love me some good pajamas.
"The bags deserve a shot out all on their own. Spanning satchels, work totes, duffles and more, this is an entirely utilitarian collection of well-constructed, easy-to-carry bags that don't give off that "Look at me, I'm almost carrying an IT bag" vibe that many diffusion lines tend to project."
Needless to say, I think I'm in love already...and planning an early am trip to Target come September 15. Now that's one way to get me out of bed early on a Sunday morning :)
It's crazy how fast a year flies by and I cannot believe that today marks 365 days since I began my 101 in 1001 list. I'm happy to report I'm making quite a bit of progress and looking forward to crossing out more and more as we continue on this journey.
It's funny in such a short period of time how so many things have changed and I'm now realizing I just might not get around to but either way, in 635 days, I'll be celebrating.
Some highlights -
Writing the list, which may have been one of the more fun tasks I've had in awhile. It's fun to do something just for you, not because it's due or a client is waiting on it.
I've so so loved hearing from readers who have started their own lists. Have you started your own? I'd LOVE to see it.
The Blog Redesign I am so happy with the work that Danielle did with this blog and have really enjoyed taking it to the next level.
Speaking of, I've purchased Adobe Creative Suite for Dummies and started refreshing all my skills outside of Indesign, my program of choice
I've been LOVING sending cards. It is just so wonderful to surprise people and make them feel really appreciated. It's been a wonderful new habit. Oh and I am my mother now. I'm also working on those handwritten notes, too!
I think I wasn't generous or realistic enough. 100 recipes to try but only 30 restaurants?!
I really enjoyed Etsy and keep favoriting different shops but I really need to buy more...ok, I don't need to but I want to.
Yet to come:
I'm really working on becoming a real person
Becoming a morning person and being productive before work hours and not sleeping the weekends away
I'm working on creating a routine. Recently it's been a 7:15 wake up call from mom [pathetic, I know] followed by a work out all before starting the work day. I'm really loving it.
Some days, I even run in the a.m.s...I'm working on getting my endurance back since my foot injury bedriddened me a few weeks back
I've been to Navy Pier a few times this summer and have YET to make it on that famous ferris wheel
I'm getting in the habit of preparing meals on week days, although I confess a lot of times it's just a simple turkey sandwich. I need to step it up a notch and hit up the farmer's markets, actually cook things from the ba-jillion magazines I subscribe to, find new recipes etc.
I have so many crafts, I'm just waiting for the weather to turn to craft season i.e. not beautiful weather that I feel guilty sitting inside with a glue gun [total loser here]
I need to bring someone over to go through my closest with me.
St. Martin, booked. See you in November.
Business School: I've got some updates on life coming soon so I've placed this on the back burner for some time
I hate our couch, like really hate but buying a new piece of furniture just isn't in the budget right now. Someone put it to me perfectly the other day, "its a first couch out of college kind of couch."
Those Monolos...they're just screaming my name. I also want to add a pair of Brian Atwoods and L.K. Bennetts to the list
I always said if I was going to run a Marathon it needed to be somewhere I won't get bored, hence London. But I'm just not sure that's going to happen. I'd sooner do a Tri than a Marathon these days.
P.S. We'll be back with your regularly scheduled Apartment LOVE post next week :)
Fall, where are you? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we've hit the point in the summer when I'm over it and ready for cooler temps and even shorter days, sweater weather, boots and more. But this week, with every day in the high 80s, is not agreeing with me and honestly, I just don't what to do, or better yet, wear.
A few things...
+ Holy. Moly. Newsroom last night. Do you watch? The last 20 secs had me in shock and anxiously awaiting next week.
...if you don't watch, I highly suggest you sit down and enjoy all of this and the first season immediately while they are available on demand.
+ I'm getting a haircut. I've decided there's no happy medium with me and my hair. It's either great or desperately needs a haircut. There's no middle ground to give me a warning until it's too late.
+ I'm finally going grocery shopping. It's been like 4 weeks since I've gone into the grocery store for anything other than berries, grapes and cherries.
+ I'm going to kick this week's mornings in the butt. Watch out.
+ Tomorrow marks 1 year since a I started my 101 challenge. Only 636 days to go.
+ Did you check out my new shop page? Be sure to check out what I'm currently digging and links to where to get it!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Listening: my currently: i love this song playlist
Eating: leftover tofu crunch salad from Standard Market Grill, my new favorite
Drinking: trying out eboost pink lemonade in replace of caffeine today.
Feeling: annoyed with the hot weather
Wanting: the Vince Camuto Booties I walked by yesterday at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago and now can't find online
Needing: like I need to have a healthy week after Saturday spent eating/indulging in Madison
Thinking: about ordering a bunch of stuff from Boden that I just added to my currently obsessed/fall boards. [check out the shop]
Enjoying: this article my trainer sent me, love the analogy...and almost all the articles from Emily Shuman's Link's I Love Post.
Wondering: if this week can go by fast, I'm already ready for the weekend again
Today, I'm off to my old stomping grounds of Madison, WI with two of my bestest friends in tow. If years ago, you told us that someday the three of us would be returning to Madison for a run, we may just have laughed in your face. Welp, these times are a-changing. But somethings, like my amazing friendship with these two ladies, one of which who lives halfway across the country, stay the same.
Have you ever shopped J.Crew Factory? Well, if you haven't I highly suggest you start. I've grown up outlet shopping, probably because they're pretty common on the East Coast and there's one just down the street from our ski house. I can hardly contain my excitement to check out the new outlets in Rosemont soon!
And you can be certain whenever I'm outlet shopping, J.Crew Factory is always on my must check out list. Even better, now you can shop it online anytime, too. [It used to only be available online on weekends.]
I love Samantha Hutchinson's Blog, Could I Have That?, cause she's got a pretty good fashion sense.
Her blog, which was created as a joke between Hutchinson's sister and her seeing so much they loved and wanted and saying, in a high and innocent voice, "could I have that?, is just like her home and makes me want to say, "could I have that?"
And I love her design tips.
Play around and move things in your house. It's a good way to exercise your creativity and it's always refreshing to see old pieces in new ways.
Accent the kitchen with colorful food. She loves using tangerines or a deep purple eggplant to bright up the kitchen.
Borrow from the kitchen. She loves using cake platters to display jewelry and martini glasses for holding matchbooks.
And yes, I'd love to have the plate full of oreos.
