From another blogger to me to you

I got a new computer. I don't know if I told you that. You'd think I'd have been blogging up a storm with it....and I'd love to be. However, as work has been absolutely beyond bonkers; summer is the busiest season for restaurants. I haven't had much time AND I also haven't had access to my Adobe software. Thus no photoshop or indesign to make anything really that interesting.

Needless to say, I'm sorry I have not blogged.

Soon, I will share my beyond random thoughts with you, tell you the five things that are making me happy or inspiring, continue my the ABCs, expect an olympics related post this week...perfect that we're on O, and more. Expect some more exciting things because yes, I promise, when I return, I will be better than ever.

Now on to why, I took the time on my lunch break to write to all of you. Yesterday, I was re-adding my blogroll to my Chrome bookmarks. I was catching up on all my favorites and checking in and one of them wrote something that I absolutely related to....and it was perfect to go with my apology.

She wrote -

I apologize for the size as well. I'll summarize, she admitted that like me, she too is jealous of every other blog out there. "With the perfect graphics, professional looking photography, and the original, thoughtful, and creative content that's out there, it's hard not to be jealous once in a while. " I agree, I completely and whole-heartedly agree because I took don't wake up and put on a beautiful outfit to snap a photo of, or spend the day at some glamourous office that anyone would want to work in, or cook a delicious meal, although my I should start sharing the meals I eat out with you.

So other bloggers, teach me your ways, because I too, am not worthy.

I'm going on the Bachelor...

For those of you who I have not yet told already OR that are not friends with me on Facebook, I am going on the Bachelor. I'm quite sad it has come to this. I was really hoping to fall in love with Sean Lowe on my own, without the need for reality TV.

I will need help filling out this questionnaire and welcome ideas for my video thus I welcome any and all comments.

And a highlight from the other part of the questionnaire:

Ohh the Midwest...

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program for an apology - I want to say I am sorry to all of you. Because I have unjustifiably been absent in my blogging. I'm trying to make a comeback...trying being the operative word. AND I will install my photoshop and indesign so please bare with me. NOW on to today's blog post ----->

I LOVE the East Coast. I really do. I love my favorite boutiques and cafes, shops and restaurants. However, where the East Coast is truly lacking is in the chain department. Be that restaurants and stores. And if they have them, they are among the last to get them. There are few exceptions i.e. Bertucci's and Fresh City, Madewell, etc but let's think about this: Chipotle, Potbelly's, Noodles & Co, Francesca's Collections, Bloomingdales (there is only 1 in Massachusetts), Nordstorms (which is now SLOWLY getting its bearings), Scoop, Sprinkles, Crumbs, Caribou, CUSP and I'm sure more.

I attribute my "humble" upbringing to this phenomenon. And today, my roommate and her mother opened my eyes to something these Midwesterners have been experience their whole lives: The Nordstroms Anniversary Pre-Sale...and, oh, was it worth the wait...

So you know Nordstroms Anniversary Sale, which happens to come during my favorite shopping season? You know, FALL/Back to School shopping season? It's my favorite. And the sale, its always fantastic. And then it got back. The Pre-Sale allows you to shop the sale the week leading up to when the sale launches. Each division of the store - point of view, tbd, bp, shoes, accessories, etc - has its own tent which with the assistance of a personal shopper you are able to privately shop what will be going on sale in just a few days.

It takes out the WORST parts of shopping a sale -

  • The crowds
  • The search
  • The inability to find anyone to help you
  • The inability to find anything good in stock
And just look at what I found -

P.S. my upbringing on the East Coast also denied my the knowledge of what to do in a horrific storm like we're experience as I write this. Luckily, my current and former roommates have trained me well: bathtub, stairwell or basement.

P.P.S. Do you like my new quilt? It's this one. I LOVE IT. And as my mother so wonderfully pointed out, I know have a white backdrop for when I take photos on my bed.

Happy Moo-nday!

Sometimes I cook and when I do...it's in here.
