K & Why I Love Kate Middleton

I'm writing this as I watch Katie Couric's 20/20 Special - The Jubilee Queen so this seems appropriate that one K gets her own dedicated post....before giving you my other Ks. Yes, Kate Middleton is about to get her own post.

Maybe I should rename my blog: My Love for all things Royal. I digress...

Why I love Kate Middleton?
  1. The Blowdry - her hair, it's always effortlessly beautiful. Bouncy but not too poofy, sleek but not too shiny. Teach me your ways.
  2. Her elegance - My mom DID NOT send me to finishing school...and Kate makes me wish she had.
  3. Her make up....which is always perfect and done herself. Yes, I'll say it again: Teach me your ways.
  4. Her Style....I would say enough said, but it's really not. See numbers 5 - 15, but that's a short list, I could go on forever
  5. The Fascinators and other fab headwear (i.e. tiaras)
  6. The L.K. Bennett heels
  7. The High Street Fashion promoting British designers
  8. And her ability to wear more normal brands like Zara & Top Shop
  9. The Overcoats
  10. The Clutches
  11. The infamous Reiss Dress
  12. Her Alexander McQueen Wedding Dress
  13. The boots, yes even her cowboy boots and matching hat
  14. Her jeans and blazer look
  15. and how everything always fits perfect....and shows off her ridiculous body
  16. The family...yup, I plan to marry into it. See H.
  17. Her Athleticism
  18. She's confident enough to match her man...who doesn't dress too bad himself
  19. She's got the British accent going on
  20. She's ALMOST normal
  21. and so much more
I am among the group that agrees William is the lucky one to have her.

Other Ks:
the other kate, Kate Spade
Beautiful Kitchens
my favorite kitchen tool, my candy apple red Kitchen aid
one of the reasons I don't mind showering at Equinox, Kiehl's products
fun heels by Kurt Geiger
Karen Walker sunnies
oh and Karl Lagerfeld, an inspiration...I mean how cool is this guy?

J is for...

J was an easy one. Although I apologize it took me so long to post it.

J.Crew should have its own post. But I think this blog is a daily dedication to my love for the store... I know there isn't a morning where I don't put at least one JCrew item on...usually it's an entire outfit full.

I can't leave out Jimmy Choos or Joe's Jeans.

And one of my favorite authors, Jane Green

I'm also a big fan of Joie and joy.

What are your favorite Js?

I am SO sad.

After my post yesterday, I've endured a 4am wake up call, a 6am flight and almost a half a days work...and then this arrived in my mail box.

Yes, I know it's small. Blogger doesnt like me using large photos. I'll save Nana from taking out her glasses and summarize it for you.

It's an email, from Fortnum & Mason's customer service. APPARENTLY, they do not have a license to send perfume overseas and need to refund me for my recent purchase.

Is anyone going over to London Town soon?? I'll be sending you with some cash money.

Did I mention...

Did I mention my OBSESSION with the British Royal Family? I suppose that's like asking, Have you ever read my blog before?

Well this just happened....

Fortnum & Mason White Gardenia Petals Perfume

Yup, I ordered it. All the way from Fortnum & Mason on ole Piccadilly Road in London, England. (And in the process, I realize I forgot F&M on my F post. I digress...)

Why? Cause Kate Middleton wore it on her wedding day. And it's now available exclusively on the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge's First Anniversary. Count. Me. In.

As fragrant as a bouquet of white flowers, quivering in the gentle April breeze, this is a delicate and charming scent.

The top notes of gardenia and wisps of lily dance around the heart notes of ylang ylang, muguet (lily of the valley) and jasmine, which bring a futher trio of white flowers into play.

Amber wood underscores this light, fresh, modern bouquet, adding depth and an aroma of deeply rooted tradition. Truly the scent of a future queen and a must-have for any princess.

Plus it sounds absolutely divine. And if William likes it, I bet Harry would too. And you know how I feel about Harry...and that would make me a princess one day.

...did I mention Amy and I have decided we're hitting up Top Shop next week? I must be on a London trip.

A list of deliciousness

I've started a new thing. I'm making reservations. A lot of them. Cause I like eating. I've been known to drag friends, family, visitors, etc to clients and restaurants I've been dying to try. And now that I have roommates, I've told them I'm dragging them. We've decided to have standing dates 2x a month and I'll be making the reservations. So far, we've got: Balena, GT Fish & Oyster, RPM & Nellcote.

And here's what SHOULD be coming up next -

Got any other suggestions for us?

Good question, CDG, good question.

How easy is that?

For the letter I, there were a few things I immediately thought of: one of my favorite perfumes, Issey Miyake, or my Ipad, my Iphone, my Ipod, my Inano...are you catching a trend here? But those were all second bets to the real letter I. The woman I'd like to be when I grow up, Ina Garten.

Oh Ina. How fantastic you are, in every way, I can only hope that you can rub off on me through my TV and into my kitchen and, if I'm really lucky, onto my plate.

Really, I'd like to be you, growing up in Connecticut, working for the White House and then simply deciding what you were doing just wasn't you so buying the most adorable market in the Hamptons on a whim.

Barefoot Contessa, god knows what that means - but I like to believe it represents the way you design recipes with fresh ingredients or your elegant but earthy lifestyle.

Although I'm not sure I can call your life of luxury in East Hampton "earthy." Although I don't care, I don't ask questions, I just follow along and do as you say and hope one day you'll invite me to visit...and plan meals around the clock for me.

You can make something out of nothing, actually following through on weekly, or almost daily dinner parties. You whip up a party for 100 without breaking a sweat....and have the perfect location in your house to host and friends to set up the table, flowers and lighting for you or even help you in the kitchen. P.S. we all know who Eli is.

Jeffrey likes everything you make...and has been in love with you since you were 15 years ago. Your chicken is never raw or overdone, like mine, your pasta is always el dente and you never overcrowd the pan.

You say thing like "How easy is that?" or "I'm going to go snip some fresh hydrangeas from my garden"...yah, me too, Ina...I wish. And always make a denim button down with a popped collar look classy.

How do you do it? I'll never know but I sure am glad that you do.

Hold Me Accountable

Happy Monday! I'm back, hopefully for good. I've moved and successfully unpacked, pictures coming soon, and I'm out of excuses for my lack of blogging. Thus I'm asking you to hold me accountable, to a few things.

  • Working out, each morning, before work.
  • Get back on track on my half-marathon training, did I tell you I'm doing that this summer?
  • Cooking for myself
  • Eating healthy
  • Drinking Water
  • Calling my mother
  • Blogging on the regular

DISH: Quotable

-Chicago Magazine

I apologize for my lack of blogging this week. Work has been crazy hectic and with the move, I just haven't had time at night to slate out some posts. I will be back, I promise.

To tide you over, another bit to chew on that Chicago Magazine brings up...
 - What would you call a Burger made out of Ham?
