DISH: Quotable

-Chicago Magazine

What are you going to do next?

What are you going to do next? Typically, or once a year after the Super Bowl, the answer is "I'm going to Disney World!"

Well I'm not sure that Disney World is where I would go. Although I do love the adage, "Where dreams come true." You see, I'd go somewhere else entirely. Somewhere across the pond, located in the Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, South of Hyde Park, in Knightsbridge on Old Brompton Road. Yes, my readers, when someone asks me what I would conceivably love to do next, it would be, "I'm going to Harrod's."

Harrod's is more than Disney World and Land combined. It's my heaven on earth. The store occupies a 5-acre site and has over one million square feet of selling space in over 330 departments ranging from clothing for men, women, children and infants, electronics, jewelry, sporting gear, bridal, pets, toys, food and drink, health and beauty items, packaged gifts, stationary, home appliances, furniture and more. I wish this even did it justice. To quote their motto, it is All things for all people, everywhere.

Which yes, brings us to H

Other Hs -

Naturally I thought of my favorite Hunter Boots, it is April after all.

And the coveted Hermes Birkin, scarves and general way of life. Last Friday, my co-worker and I envied a woman carrying a huge shopping bag from the Oak St store...and a scoop bag as well.

I thought of my favorite high heels, a double H!

And my boyfriend, Harry.

Then there's Halston dresses, Herve bags, comfy hankypankys and the Harry Winston ring I'm hoping Harry drops to one knee with soon. Did I say that out loud?

...a girl can dream.

And more realistically, allllll the Holsteins out there aka my avid, and possibly only, readers.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday!

It's a four day week for me so I'm as good as mood as ever. But there's also a few other reasons I'm in a great mood!

  • Because my best friend/big sister is in Chicago today
  • Because Mommy Dearest is coming on Thursday night. I'm also is a great mood because in 4 days I'll be moving in with these lovely ladies.
  • Because I have resservations at Gemini Bistro AND Sunda this weekend.
  • Because I'm moving in with these lovely fools in 4 days.
Also, you will all be happy to know I spent last night blogging for most of this week so you all won't be agonizing over when my next post will be. I know, it's been excruciating on you all these past weeks as I've been MIA.
Lovely fools, right?

But until then, my life's going to be a combination of work, packing, running and more packing. Maybe even more packing. Don't worry, I'm a seasoned pro at moving. Moved every year for the last 5 after all. This time, I'm bringing up back up, Two Men & A Moving Truck.

Peace, love & packing tape.

The Letter "Gee"

G was actually one of the letters, on the on-going list for this blog series on my phone, that isn't actually that long. By the way, I write this as I'm eating grapes, something that didn't but should have made the phone list.

So what was on the list?

The Gap, specifically their current Be Bright advertising campaign, and I guess all the clothes that sit in my wardrobe.

All the gold jewelry in the world.

And all these cute boys like George Clooney, Jake Gyllenhaal & Ryan Gosling.

And last, but certainly not least, another, but more important important George, Grampy, that is, who I was lucky enough to know and love.

The Rant

It's been awhile since we had one of these and I suppose that's a good thing. And I suppose that this one isn't really a reflection on anything in my life is another good thing.

You see, it's this blog I read. I absolutely love it and find it inspiring, gorgeous, in fact its perfect. I love every thing about it. I'm siting here almost not convinced I want to write this down and say anything bad about this blog. I've actually deleted this twice.

So why don't I like it? It's the title.

You see, it's there that it implies that it is a blog for and about everyone. And yes, it is for everyone. But, it is not about everyone. Instead, each day it features these fantastic women who lead ridiculously glamorous lives: beautiful homes, fascinating jobs, odd talents and more. And yes, I know that's what we want to read about. But it's just a little bit annoying.

That is all.

Helllooo New Clothes

I told you I'd share this with all of you. Some of my shopping finds. Shopping with mom's the best, did I mention that? She's got GREAT taste.

I promise one day, I will stop using my bed as a background and potentially use my real camera rather than my iphone. I know these photos are awful and don't quite do some of my new additions.

I think I'm into orange this season.

I'm backkk

Any of you out there? Helllo? Ok just checking, I know it's been awhile. However, after a very very busy week last week, I jet set off to New Hampshire to visit the family. And I came back with a cold...ugh. The last two days it's been a horrible sore throat. Then today, with my 3am wake up call for my 6am flight came the stuffy nose and sinus headache. As I said that, I sneezed. Ugh. Death.

So what did I do at home? Well, pause for a sip of my cold remedy tea, I did a variety things. You can probably a guesss....yes, I went shopping with Barb, among other things.

Friday was spent walking with mom and dunk, and my second mom/next door neighbor/best friend's mom. Yes, I was up at 7am, which is 6am Chicago time on my day off. Then we did some cooking for our Passover Seder: charoset, tsimmes and more before it was dentist time.

Ladies and gentleman, I, Carly Sarah Holstein, have lived 23.33 years without a cavity. My dentist tells me if all his patients were like me, he'd be out of a job. I think he tells everyone that. Then we were on to more important things. My to-do list...which yes was written on my phone as a note

Don't worry we got to all but the Rack. All with enough time to pick up our Roast Chickens by 4:30 and to be ready for our Passover Seder by 7pm. Don't worry, I'll show you some of my purchases later this week : )

Things I learned today: The Kabbalah Interpretation of Passover, in which Pharaoh represents our own Ego, which we are enslaved by. Thus during passover, we give up something, eating leavened foods, to practice control over ourselves.
