You can't be surprised this one made the list. I love love love Anthropologie. Not only do they have fabulous clothing from all sorts of designers I dig, they also have a fantastic home department which I've stocked many a rooms.
What's not to love about Asos? It's the best when you're looking for something special, want a pop of fun to add to your regular outfits, are searching for a fantastic accessory! Plus, it's British and they do carry Cath Kidston.
Thank. God. It's. Friday. This week, that was rough one.
So I read a lot of blogs. The list to the right hardly does it justice. I should really update that. So now, and maybe ever Friday, you know I don't like to commit to everys, I share some of what I saw this week with you. So what did I see? (Idea courtesy of The Urban Slant)
I need to preface my experience with the entire cleanse by telling you a little bit more about my job. I'm not sure what I've told you before, but I work for a small marketing company representing clients in the hospitality industry. Aka. most of my clients are restaurants. So, giving up eating is a bit difficult. I actually can't think of a single week where I don't have something going on for 3 days at a time. Let alone nothing to do with eating or drinking, or a combination of the both....
So I figured hey, Monday through Wednesday wouldn't be that hard. And it wasn't minus when my friends want to go out for drinks or co-workers want to go for a happy hour. And no, I'm not going to sacrifice socializing for this so I didn't. Yes, I cheated.
On Day 1, I strictly followed the cleanse. However, by 11pm, when I was struggling to keep the last and disgusting drink down, I couldn't even imagine doing it for another day. None the less, I woke up the next morning ready to give it a go. Which I did, followed it strictly until 8 o'clock when I found myself at Dunlay's on Clark with friends and it was half price bottles of wine....so I indulged in a glass and some grilled artichoke, which was pretty yummy. But, I was still resolved to finish off strong. So this morning, I started off strong yet again in spinning then drank the juices until about 530pm, when my co-workers and I nailed a very important and stressful meeting. We then joined other co-workers and I was not going to not join in the festivities.
So yes, I cheated and decided not eating for 3 days was ridiculous. Not because it was hard, drinking 16oz every 2 hours. I was actually quite full. So, no, I'm in no rush to do it again. But I think it does help put things into perspective. So on such a restricted diet, what did I crave? Eggs. Hard-boiled, omelette, egg salad, quiche. Sorry, Eric! They do say you crave what you need, I guess I need protein, which makes sense. You start to realize that eating healthy, could be a lot worse. So, in my hour spinning class, I re-committed to eating healthy once again, so I say my cleanse was a success.
For those of you who didn't know, here's a few things about me:
1. In another life, I'd secretly like to be an interior designer
2. I'm moving
3. The two are causing a lot of internet research on what I want to do differently in my next room. I'm currently thinking I just want everything to be more organized (lots of wicker baskets and because I'm moving my desk into my room, I need to rethink my office area.

Welp, I made it through Day 1, just one juice to go, the cashew smoothie, which I will be popping open in a n hour or so. Welllll, it wasn't TOO hard. I think the hardest part may be drinking the Green Juice andddd the simple idea of not being able to eat typical food.
So my juice reviews:
Green Juice: This one, the combination of lettuces and apples, had an overwhelming taste of celery. It was good for the first few sips and then got kind of difficult to put down.
Cayenne Lemonade: After the Green Juice, I was REALLLY nervous about this one. I was happily surprised by this one. It's super tart but also kind of sweet. Cleans the palette that's for sure. Although tasted so tart it was almost salty.
Red Juice: Have I mentioned my love for Borscht? It's the jew inside of me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Beets and LOVE LOVE LOVE Borscht. So when the red juice, a combination of beets, apple & carrots, tasted just like my favorite cold soup, I was pretty damn pleased. However the sour cream, which I usually add to my Borscht was not on the cleanse...boo.
Cashew Milk: This was my absolute least favorite. I think I dreaded every sip I took. It was THICK and CHALKY and NOT GOOD.
So How am I feeling? Not bad, not bad. I think the hardest part about doing a cleanse is just the idea of not having a meal. There's an article in this month's Chicago Magazine about it, which I thought explained it well. As someone who's life revolves around food, not for obese reasons but passion, it's difficult to not have a dinner to look forward to, or lunch with coworkers or after work snacks, etc! Plus, my job KINDDDD OOFFF revolves around food so it was a little difficult looking at photos and menus all day.
So, I'm biting the bullet. Inspired by my love for vodka sodas and frosting so sugary you can taste the grit, I've signed up to do a 3-day cleanse from Peeled Chicago.
Let me tell you about the cleanse...
It is 24 juices which you drink over 3 days, 6 juices a day.
You spread out the juices between every two hours or so and can drink lemon water and green tea, my two favorites. So what are the juices?
Green Juice (2x) - As Peeled says, Green means go and you begin each day with this juice. It is a mixture of romaine lettuce, spinach, cucumber, parsley. celery stalks, ginger root & green apples. This is the most important part of the program. It is 5 full servings of fruits & veggies in just 1 of the 16oz drinks...and you drink 2 of these day each day.
Cayenne Lemonade - Peeled cayenne lemonade is a tart and energizing twist on regular lemonade. It is sweeted with maple syrup and lemon.
Red Juice (2x) - Now, I can't tell you much about this one as my pamphlet is outdated and has information on the summer's watermelon juice. My red juice is a combination of carrots, beets & apples. Sounds delicious to me,
Cashew Milk - The cashew milk is the last drink of everyday. This protein rich smoothie is supposed ot be a great nightcap after a day of healthy "drinking." It is a combination of sweet and spice and I think I may be most excited to try this as it reminds of a delicious Chai!
So follow along for the next 3 days, I'll be blogging my way through it!
So I had to share it with all of you...and clearly it's been doing well.
[Top Shop $74 - unfortunately it's no longer available]
Yes, I snagged the last one in the Michigan Avenue Store. Yes, it was worth every penny. Yes, they were having a student discount sale and I used my unexpired Wisconsin ID which I will never part with. Yes, I'm in love, with this sweater and with Harry Wales/Windsor.
Did I mention that I have a thing for the British Monarchy, Harry in-particular? Always been a Harry girl, always will.
In this week's 5 things, with Award Season in full bloom, I give you, not my favorite dresses so far but the 5 movies I'm looking forward to seeing soon...
I'm a huge movie person. I watch them all the time. My college roommate told me I was a closeted movie watcher. I blame my recording obsessed father who has run a small rental store out of our living room. No, he doesn't actually run a rental store, but might as well had with the amount of VHS and DVDs we had growing up.
